Limni Gölü Tabiat Parkı
Located in Gümüşhane's Torul district, Limni Gölü Nature Park is a protected area established around a high mountain lake that was set aside as a recreation area in 1999, gained nature park status in 2011 and was expanded to 72 hectares in 2013. At an average altitude of 1,914 meters, the park stretches across a topographically quite rugged region covered with Scots pine and spruce forests; its highest point reaches 2,105 meters. The forest and scenery around the lake provide a suitable setting for walking, cycling, nature excursions, angling and boat trips. Since winter conditions are harsh in the region, the period when the park is most productively used for nature activities is between June and September. The park, about 18 km from Torul district center, is reached by turning off the Gümüşhane-Trabzon highway onto the historic Erzurum-Trabzon road; the nearest airport is Trabzon Airport, 82.5 km away.
