Küçük Akgöl Sulak Alanı
Located in Sakarya's Söğütlü district, about 3 km east of Lake Taşkısığı, Küçük Akgöl is a 187-hectare protected piece of nature registered as a local wetland in 2019. The 20-hectare lake, fed by waters welling up from the bottom, discharges its excess water into the Çark Suyu and has held 2nd-degree natural protected site status since 2001. The lake's surroundings are covered with natural forests of oak, beech and hornbeam trees. Its waters host various fish species; mammals such as jackal, roe deer and squirrel roam the forested area. During the migration period, waterbirds such as the common wood pigeon, woodcock, northern pintail, tufted duck and common pochard visit the lake. This makes Küçük Akgöl an attractive spot for birdwatching and photo safaris. The area, which has a gazebo, a picnic unit and a toilet, is reached by urban transport vehicles via the Kaynarca-Söğütlü road off the Adapazarı-Kuzey Terminal Road. Its distance to the Sakarya city center is about 12 km.
