Poyrazlar Gölü Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2011 and taking its name from Lake Poyrazlar, Poyrazlar Gölü Nature Park spreads over an area of 231 hectares near Adapazarı in Sakarya. The natural forest fabric and the unique view of the lake combine with a rich flora and fauna to offer day visitors a peaceful nature getaway. The lake, right next to the forest dominated by species such as pedunculate oak, Turkey oak, Austrian pine, Scots pine, and red pine, lies on an important bird migration route; 154 bird species have been recorded in the area to date. In addition to mammals such as jackal, fox, hare, squirrel, and wild boar, the lake is home to fish species such as carp, pike, freshwater perch, and catfish. This richness creates a favorable setting for birdwatching and photo safari. The park, 8 km from the Sakarya city center and 5 km from Söğütlü, is reached via the Adapazarı-Karasu highway by following the signs. Hiking, horseback nature tours, cycling, angling, and boat trips on the lake are the main activities available in the area.
