Fatih Sultan Mehmet Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2011, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Nature Park is located in Istanbul's Sarıyer district and takes its name from the Ottoman sultan Fatih Sultan Mehmet. The extensive area of approximately 111.85 hectares has the appearance of a generally middle-aged forest, densely wooded, where broad-leaved and, in places, coniferous species form mixed stands. In the park, which has rich vegetation including Kasnak oak, Turkey oak, hornbeam, Anatolian chestnut, oriental plane, and black pine, various animal species such as roe deer, red squirrel, and wild boar live owing to its location within the Belgrad Forest. Thanks to its position close to the centre, the area is favoured in all four seasons and receives especially heavy visitor numbers in spring, summer, and autumn; it is well suited to nature walks in the forest and day-use relaxation. After reaching Bahçeköy from Maslak Büyükdere Avenue, it lies on the left, at a distance of about 3 km along the Kemerburgaz road.
