Göktürk Göleti Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 2011, the roughly 56-hectare Göktürk Göleti Nature Park in Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district takes its name from the Göktürk Pond within the area. Fed by the Karanlıkdere stream and its tributaries, the pond is used for agricultural irrigation in the surroundings and lends the park a tranquil waterside scenery. In the rich forest cover dominated by oak and hornbeam, many tree species such as black pine, maritime pine, pedunculate oak, Oriental plane, Oriental beech and strawberry tree grow together. Home to species such as red squirrel, wild boar, jackal, fox and hare, this green area hosts rich flora and fauna right next to the city. Its location within the city makes the park easy to reach: take the Hasdal-Kemerburgaz road to Göktürk center and arrive at the park at the start of the İhsaniye road. Those coming by public transport can reach the pond with a short walk from the İstanbul Evleri stop. It offers an ideal day-trip route for hiking, cycling and touring itineraries.
