Polonezköy Tabiat Parkı
Declared in 1994, Polonezköy Nature Park is located in the Beykoz district of Istanbul and is the city's first declared and, at the same time, largest nature park by area. This vast 2,931-hectare area, with its rich flora and fauna, is an ideal escape point for those wishing to shake off the fatigue of city life. The story of Polonezköy, from which the park takes its name, goes back to the 19th century. Founded in 1842 by Prince Adam Czartoryski, the village hosted Polish immigrants with Sultan Abdülmecit's settlement permission after the Crimean War, and over time it became known by this name not only in Turkey but also among Polish emigrants worldwide. Today, in addition to the village settlement, the park also contains deer and pheasant breeding stations. Reached by following the signs on the Kavacık-Çavuşbaşı road, or from the Beykoz-Riva and Alemdağ-Şile directions, the park offers rich opportunities for hiking, cycling, and nature tours.
